What does Shaca mean?
In the past SHACA was an acronym for Sexual Health and Community Action. However, the project has now become a generic Teenage Health and Wellbeing Project, and is no longer based on sexual health. We have kept the name SHACA for publicity purposes.
How much STI’s are there out there?
There are approximately 12 commonly known STI’s in the UK. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are extremely common in young people between 16yrs-25yrs old. You can access a Chlamydia and Gonorrhea test from any organisation that is part of the C-Swap scheme. BHI are part of the C-Swap scheme!
How do you remove genital warts?
Genital warts require medical attention. They are usually treated with creams but on rare occasions they may be frozen off. Anyone who suspects they have genital warts will need to go to their nearest Sexual Health Clinic. For further information call Shirleecia at BHI on 0113 3070300.
